Bibliography of Tibetan Texts on Precious Pills
The Tibetan literature on precious pills is quite substantial and a complete study of all these texts was beyond the scope of this two-year project. Here I provide a bibliography of extant texts on precious pills that were collected during the project. This corpus of literature is distinct from the literature that describes mercury processing for the preparation of the complex mercury-sulfide compound tsotel (btso thal), even though precious pill recipe texts are frequently located near to or just following tsotel texts in larger compendia. To compile a list of precious pill texts in itself is not an easy task since such texts often comprise short sections in larger collections or are merely mentioned by their title in other texts that are not necessarily on pharmacology.
The following bibliography was prepared during the project to assist researchers in future textual studies on precious pills.
