Nyamme Sherab Gyaltsen was born in eastern Tibet in the 14th century and is one of the most important Bön scholars. The monk is depicted sitting on a throne. In his hands he holds two lotus blossoms over which a sword and a sacred text can be seen. These are references to the attributes of the god Sherab Mawe Senge (link: s.o. 2)), who is said to have blessed him with eloquence and intelligence. Nyamme Sherab Gyaltsen is the founder of Menri Monastery in Tibet, which until its destruction was the most important center of the Bön religion.
